Game A-Cho - 98 and 02UM Videos, and Others.

Some new videos were uploaded to the Game A-Cho Youtube channel over the weekend, haven't quite had the chance to start watching the 02UM ones but i did watch most of the 98 videos.

For some reason i always find watching 98 really entertaining to watch compared to other KOF games even though i rarely play it anymore (aside from turning it on time to time to play around with a few combos).

I've always found it a bit strange when watching high level matches why not many players ever seem to max up when they have loads of bars just sitting there? As i seem to remember you do more damage when you are in max mode but i've seen alot of matches where players are just sitting on their stocks.

Judging from what i've seen so far from the A-Cho 98 videos it seems to be the same few guys playing.

Additionally there have been some new uploads from SMOAI2010 (featuring 98UM and XI), linnesaka (Real Bout 2), and the latest video from DontDropThatCombo KOFXIII Combo Video featuring Maxima.

  1. If I'm not wrong, when you are in MAX mode in Kof 98, you hit your opponent further away from you than usual, which results in some bread & butter combos not possible.

  3. Ah, but since hit stun was increased you could also have better "locks" where you kept the enemy blocking (Like Iori vs Chris jumping D x infinite) and you could land jumping combos from early attacks (this was really good against people that blocked jumping attacks and answered with a command throw).

Btw the "amount" of combos that you lost in max mode was like.... 4 or 5 in the whole game. And with the increased hitstun you gained like 2 combos or something.

Bottom line? well, judging by the vids those players probably forgot or are not used to max mode, that probably means that they also play 02 where max mode is not 100% beneficial and thus grew the habit of not always going into MMode.

  4. Yeah it's a bit strange even when they used Ralf ad he sat on like 4 stocks.

I remember when i used to play in the arcade with Ralf, as soon as the match started MAXMODE straight away and then start mashing the C button everywhere xD
