[M.U.G.E.N] Hyper Dragonball Z - Sample Characters Basic Combo Video

Just a quick post before I head off to bed.

Downloaded the Hyper DragonBall Z sample last night, and spent most of the afternoon today playing around with it. Compiled a small set of combos that I've managed to work out so far and made the video you see above.

I've already managed to work out a few more things since making that vid, so might make another vid if I have some time tomorrow. 

Really interesting game from what I've played so far, there are a few flaws but nothing too bad that you can't enjoy the sample version. Check it out yourself here.

Arcadia Magazine [Dec 2010] - A Quick Look

Bit late this month due to Playasia not automatically invoicing for this issue, plus the usual one week to be delivered, but my issue of Arcadia came through the door this morning.

This months issue's cover feature is the latest Gundam VS game, and comes with some sort of Darius soundtrack CD as a bonus gift.

Minimal KOFXIII news (i wouldn't expect too much from now on since it's already been out on arcades for quite a while now), but i've taken pictures of most of the other SNKP related stuff.

First up the Maker's Hotline which this month covers Trouble Witches Neo which will be coming out on XBLA this Winter for 800MS, not too sure if you can see properly but the item feature this month is for a Fatal Fury Terry Bogard cap which is sold on cospa.com.

Some sort of mobile phone Sci Fi RPG featuring some of the KOF girls, 'ASUTORO KUESTO' which using my rather limited Japanese reading ability either means Astro Quest or Ass To Row Quest...I prefer the latter translation. :P

Not too sure why SNKP releases all of these games on Japanese mobile phone services but never brings them out via iPhone, as this one looks fairly decent and one i wouldn't mind playing.

The usual Neo Geo fan club showing images sent in by fans, this months winning image is of Twinkle Star Sprites. I quite liked the Ninja Combat one myself.

Some sort of retrospective look at Fatal Fury Special.

In the Tougeki section of the magazine this month there are features on all of the games played this year, along with interviews with the winners and what i believe is their advice on the game in which they won.

As you can see in the KOFXIII page something that really made me laugh quite alot is the Raiden dropkick flowchart.

Also of course is the KOF02UM winners page about Hinako who OZ is most famous for using, along with some advice of how to use her. The small box to the left side explains moves which are most effective at different attack ranges.

Also at the end of this feature is a special report about Duelling the KOF, which is the main KOF major event in Japan, with some of the brackets and write ups for the different games played.

Finally to end up this issue, there was a small comic strip at the end (the topic varies between issues) featuring a bit of Hinako. DOSUKOI!! I have also included the Arcadia Arcade Rankings at the end, KOFXIII still in there at a respectable 6th place.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, this month's issue also had a photo of the UK Players who qualified and went for the Tekken team competition at Tougeki. In this team was Cristina who has been a long time KOF player (but now mainly plays Tekken and Guilty Gear), her team i think came in the top 8. Also in the pic are her team mates Inti and Ramzi, who are both also friends of mine.

Arcadia April 2010 - A Quick Look.

Just got my issue of Arcadia in the mail from this morning, decided to order this issue after hearing some rumours about KOF XIII (which turned out to just be the logo and a little information on the preview event at the end of this month) and the article on Neo Geo's 20th Anniversary.

So anyway the vast majority of the issue is dedicated to all things Neo Geo, and if i'm not mistaken it says on the front cover that this is only the first part.
The magazine comes with a free card for some sort of card based online game, though i have no idea what it is...The artwork for the card is not too bad though.

As soon as you open the magazine you are greeted with a two page spread with a message thanking SNK fans for the past 20 years.


The first article basically explains 'What is Neo Geo' with the companies history, etc (not being able to read much Japanese i can't tell alot of what's going on here).
It then goes on to show the Neo Geo catalogue of games (AES/MVS/NGCD/HyperNG64), whilst this is quite a nice section to have a look at it does seem rather 'unprofessional' that some games do not seem to have screen shots...Instead replaced by 'SORRY NO IMAGE'.

(Also don't forget to check out the Neo Geo museum website, which also has a less detailed Neo Geo catalogue.)

Anyway moving on, as well as the articles on various parts of SNK's History, there is also a 'Lady Game Centre' feature on what i assume is something about 'Gaming Idols'. No idea wtf this is all about.

There are also two interviews, one with Akio who worked on the design for Metal Slug 1-3, and another with one of the staff members (whose name unfortunately i can't read) who worked on Twinkle Star Sprites, as well as Doki Doki Majou Shinpan.

Also there is some fan art of SNKP characters, as well as some previews of some of the upcoming XBLA games.

Other bits and pieces in the magazine include some stuff on Arcana Heart 3, there's a two page spread with something about Daigo Umehara, etc...

So is this magazine worth picking up? If you can read Japanese then i would say so, if like me you can't then a lot of the information on SNK's history in the magazine you can probably read online somewhere in English. Personally i only picked it up out of curiosity.

You can order it online from Playasia for £11.27 (Just to note, even the cheapest shipping option is about £5), or you can subscribe to Arcadia via Playasia for a slightly cheaper price here. Though the subscription will start from next months issue and not this one.

Japan Centre also sells Arcadia Magazine, though i'm not absolutely sure what the normal price is, the issue i saw when i went in there recently was one of the older ones with the Tougeki DVDs and cost £24.10 compared to the £9.27 (minus shipping) it costs for the same issue on Playasia.

I've subscribed via Playasia myself, so if there's any more KOFXIII or SNK related news in future issues i'll be sure to write about it here.
